Candidates in categories 1 to 5 above, should possess a Master's degree with 50% marks or, in the concerned discipline, with or without M.Phil. or any other qualifications recognised as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of this University. Candidates under categories 2 & 5 above, but working outside the jurisdiction of Bharathiar University, shall be considered for Ph.D. part-time programme, if vacancies arise after admitting candidates from within the jurisdiction. Conditionally appointed/temporary/Guest lecturers in self-financing colleges and in self-financing courses in aided and Government colleges be considered for admission as part-time researchers in any college, provided the concerned employers furnish an undertaking that the individual shall not be ousted from service in the college for a period of three/four years, i.e. till the individual completes his/her minimum period of research.
Candidates with 55% of marks and above in the Master's degree in the concerned or related discipline; and with or without M.Phil. degree; For SC/ST candidates with 50% marks in P.G. course is sufficient. Candidates with 55% of marks and above in the Master's degree in the concerned or related discipline and working as a Junior Research/Senior Research fellow or as Full-time Research Assistants/ Technical Assistants in time-bound Research schemes in the University Departments, Research Departments of Affiliated Colleges/Recognized Research Institute, subject to the condition that they should obtain the following certificates
No-objection certificate from the proposed Guide for registering the candidate as a Full-time Ph.D. Scholar. Certificate from the Head of the concerned Department, wherein it should be stated that he/she had examined the conditions of the scheme/project of the candidate with reference to the following * whether the scheme/project is sponsored by a Govt. agency (the name of the agency shall be mentioned), * that the candidate is not debarred from joining Ph.D. course as a Full-time scholar.
